No, and it isn't intended to be. This tool produces an automated working draft. The rules governing how a deposition transcript is prepared, certified, filed, and used vary by jurisdiction, court, order, and the parties' stipulations — and they place specific duties on the authorised officer for your matter. Use the official record and the professionals your matter requires, and review this draft against the recording before relying on any part of it.
Is it really free?
Yes — transcribing recordings up to 5 minutes is free with no signup. A free account raises that to 25-minute files, up to three files per day. Paid plans handle files up to 10 hours, which covers a full deposition in a single upload.
Does it label who is speaking?
It groups the audio by voice, not by role. Each distinct voice is placed under a generic label — Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on — which marks where the speaker changes. It does not know which voice is counsel, the witness, or anyone else, so you assign the names yourself, and the labels stay editable. Grouping is less reliable when voices are similar or people speak over one another, so check any attribution that matters against the audio.
How does it handle legal terminology?
Case names, statutes, party names, and specialist terms are the most likely things to be misheard — as they are for any transcription, human or automated — and unusual proper nouns are the most common source of errors. Read those passages against the recording. In the full app you can correct the text and reassign speaker labels line by line.
Can I upload a video deposition?
Yes. MP4 and MOV video work as well as audio — upload the file directly and we'll transcribe the speech in it, with no need to extract the audio first.
Is the recording stored anywhere?
No. Legal recordings are sensitive, so your file is sent for transcription and is not retained on our servers. Before uploading any recording to this or any third-party tool, confirm you are authorised to do so and that it is consistent with any protective order, privilege or confidentiality duty, client instruction, and retention or data-handling obligation that applies to your matter.
